Topic

"Oral Surgery: Szechuan Style"

Have you ever had any of the following questions for the oral surgeon you refer to:

  • All my patient needed was an implant, why are they having all of this soft tissue grafting and bone harvesting?
  • How do the bisphosphonates my patient used to take affect my current treatment plan?
  • Is there a quick and informative algorithm for the always frustrated and determined patient with TMD?
  • When really do wisdom teeth have to come out?
  • And what's this Cone Beam CT scan everyone is talking about?

Some of us refer patients out of our offices because we don't or can't provide the treatment they need. Others refer patients for a "second opinion" when in reality, we're not certain of the diagnosis or treatment they require.

This informal discussion will shed some light on popular oral surgery diagnoses, treatments and procedures - myths will be explored, answers will be given and hopefully, some rumors will be quieted.
