During the first year, the dental student takes primarily
a series of basic science courses, including the newly developed
course, Sciences basic to practice of dentistry. This offering integrates
material previously found in the courses Biochemistry, Cell biology
of tissues and organs, Human genetics, and Human physiology. Other
courses that deal with normal human biology are Human clinical anatomy,
Human development, and Neural science, as well as Epidemiology,
Introduction to dentistry, Dental anatomy and occlusion, Oral histology,
growth and development, and Health promotion.
