DIVISION OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL RADIOLOGY

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (OMFR) has as a goal to educate dental students in oral and maxillofacial radiology. Clinically, the Division has responsibility for patient triage and emergency services. These activities are accomplished through a series of courses and clinical rotations throughout the second, third, and fourth year of the predoctoral dental curriculum. This educational experience continues in the various graduate programs in which the Division offers advanced diagnostic imaging services and consultation in all aspects of dental and maxillofacial diagnosis.

In addition, the Division provides contemporary oral and maxillofacial diagnostic services to our community as well as to the dental professionals in New York City.

The equipment available is “state-of-the-art” and includes several intra-oral examination/radiology rooms, two panoramic/cephalometric units, a cone-beam computed tomography unit, fully equipped emergency treatment rooms, and a radiology reading room.

The Division of OMFR has participated with its equipment and its faculty in numerous research activities associated with almost every aspect of dental diagnosis.

A total of four faculty members and six staff members (radiology assistants, dental assistants and administrative employees) serve in the Division.
