Admissions Requirements

·         Must have passed Part 1 and Part 2 National Dental Board Examination to apply

·         Applicants must be graduates of approved dental schools in the United States or Canada. Columbia University Medical Center requires that all hired dental residents have either a US or Canadian dental degree. Otherwise, applicants cannot be hired.

How to Apply

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled for a July 1st start date.  Prospective students must download and fill out the application and submit it with the following supporting materials: 

  • Three letters of recommendation (one from the director of the oral pathology department at your school, if possible)
  • Official dental school transcript
  • Other graduate level program transcripts (if applicable)
  • Photocopy of national board score report
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Copies of publications and other pertinent materials that are listed on your CV
  • There is no application fee.

Interview

Selected applicant will be invited for the interview, which are required before acceptance. The candidate will be interviewed by four pathologists; Dr. Angela Yoon, Dr. Elizabeth Philipone, Dr. Charles Marboe and Dr. Kathleen O’Toole.

Attending this program in New York does not necessarily allow students without a DDS/DMD from an ADA accredited program to practice dentistry in the US.  For more information about licensing issues, please contact the responsible State Department of Education or the American Dental Association http://www.ada.org/en/education-careers/licensure/

Columbia University College of Dental Medicine does not and will not provide a letter certifying that an international student who has completed this program is qualified for a US DDS.
