Alex Rubinov's broad academic background allowed him to explore alternative venues of education when thinking of ways to engage fellow students with mutual interests. During his 3rd year here at CDM, Alex realized that the aesthetic principles taught in-class could be expanded on and supplemented by the help of a student organization that would unify students with similar interests in the aesthetics/cosmetics side of dentistry. In the Fall of 2013, Alex founded the Aesthetics Club, which in its first year alone has acquired more than 60 paying members who take advantage of the renowned guest lectures and educational study club sessions led by the faculty mentor, Dr. Michelle Mirsky, D.D.S.. After Alex graduates, his legacy of establishing the Aesthetics Club will continue to grow and serve as the focus center for students who share a similar passion for the art of dentistry.
Alex’s participation and leadership at CDM are not limited to his founding of the Aesthetics Club. He has previously served as the president of our local chapter of the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) and volunteered through the Global Health Externship program KIDS Dental Services in Cambodia to provide dental services for orphaned children abroad. In 2013, he received the New York State Dental Foundation Student Recognition Award for outstanding academic performance and commitment to enhancing and improving the oral health of underserved populations. Additionally, during his last year here, he has participated in an International Exchange Program at Yonsei University South Korea with the Prosthetics and Periodontics departments.
After graduation, Alex is excited to start a general practice residency at the Bronx Veteran Affairs. After completing his post-graduate training, he envisions himself employing his enthusiasm and passion for dentistry by practicing in New York City.
