2015 University Commencement Registration and Guest Ticket Request

University Commencement of the 261st Academic Year

Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.

Student line up on upper campus at 9:00 a.m.

General admission for guests opens at 8:30 a.m.

Morningside Campus, rain or shine

Columbia University in the City of New York

Online registration is required for graduating students and tickets are required for guests. Please use the link below to register to participate in the ceremony and request guest tickets before Friday, May 8, 2015 (or alternate date if school chooses to close earlier):

Important details:

·         Registration is open to all eligible May 2015 degree candidates, February 2015 and October 2014 graduates from all schools and colleges affiliated with Columbia University. If you do not plan on attending the ceremony, you do not need to register.

·         Undergraduate degree candidates may request up to four (4) tickets for their guests and graduate degree candidates may to request up to three (3) tickets for their guests.

·         Your Commencement guest tickets will be electronic tickets and will be available to you upon completion of registration. Please choose only one option to receive your tickets (printing the tickets yourself or sending electronically for your guests to print) to distribute to your guests. Each ticket has a unique QR code that can be scanned only once. Distributing your tickets via both options will cause confusion for guests when they reach the admission entrance. Please make sure that each guest has one numbered ticket which contains a unique QR code. Only the first guest arriving with that unique ticket will be allowed entry to the ceremony. Any additional copies of the same ticket will be turned away at the gates.

Students are being encouraged to print the electronic tickets to give to their guests- it will take less time to scan them at the entrances

 ·         Be kind to your fellow classmates and only register for the amount of guest tickets that you intend to actually use.

·         Please be sure to send or give your tickets to your guests prior to Commencement Day as it will be nearly impossible to navigate from upper (degree candidate procession area) to lower (guest seating area) campus on the day of the event. Each ticket must be printed out in advance and will be scanned for admission into the ceremony. This will reduce lines at the General Admission gates.

·         Please note that University Commencement is held on Low Plaza and the processional route for students includes stairs. Those graduates whose disabilities limit their ability to walk or negotiate stairs should contact Disability Servicesat 212-854-2388 (Voice/TTY) or email access@columbia.eduto arrange for accessible seating by Friday, May 8.

The selling or buying of University Commencement tickets is strictly prohibited. Please be cautious of offers to buy Commencement tickets. Tickets hold no official resale value and may be an unauthorized copy, therefore deemed unusable and denied entry to the ceremony on University Commencement day. Commencement tickets are solely for the purpose of allowing the friends and relatives of graduating students to attend the ceremony.
