My name is Mark Hermano and I am in the Class of 2015 at CDM. I am from Orlando, Florida. I attended the University of Florida for undergrad, and although I miss college football and the warm sunny weather, nothing beats being in New York City at one of the leading educational institutions in the world. I began seriously considering dentistry during my first year of college, when a fortuitous flag football accident left me without my two front teeth and in need of emergency dental work. My dentist miraculously repaired my broken smile, encouraged me to give his career some consideration, and after much shadowing, volunteering, and schooling, I can safely say I made the right choice. Columbia is an amazing place to be- the career opportunities are endless, the student body is close-knit and supportive, and the dynamic NYC environment is energizing and inspirational. The diversity and collaboration between students and faculty here promote continuous progression, along with wonderful people who will deliver a lifetime of memories. Columbia College of Dental Medicine provides the backdrop for not only an impressive dental degree, but transcends the 4-year program length, into building a lifelong foundation to a quality network, education, and career.
