Physicians/Medical Students


To qualify for admission under this program, candidates must either have an M.D. degree (U.S. or non-U.S.) or at least two years of education in a U.S. medical school.


Application Requirements

To apply for admission with advanced standing, candidates must submit a complete application package in one mailing, no later than January 1 before the academic year of entry. The package must include the following:

  • If you chose to send a check please note that Canadian postal money orders cannot be accepted. All Checks must be drawn in U.S. Dollars and mailed to our admissions office; be sure to include your name and AADSAS number on the check.  Checks should be made out to “Columbia University”.  Candidates may request a fee waiver, but must supply documentation from their current financial aid officer that confirms their eligibility.

  • Official transcripts for all undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate work. If transcripts are from schools outside the United States, applicants must include an official course-by-course evaluation from the World Education Service (WES).   • Letters of recommendation from one faculty member and the Academic Dean of the medical school attended, as well as one post-doctoral reference, if applicable.
     
  • Official results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):
    A minimum score of 100 is required on ibt. Call (609) 951-1100 or go to www.TOEFL.org for more information on the test.
