Richard K. Yoon, a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, is Associate Professor and is currently serving as Residency Director within the College of Dental Medicine’s Division of Pediatric Dentistry, Section of Growth and Development at Columbia University. Richard is a graduate of Columbia University’s College and a former trainee of Yale-New Haven’s Hospital general residency program and New York-Presbyterian’s Hospital (Columbia Campus) residency program in pediatric dentistry.
The underlying theme of his research is to improve clinical outcomes for Severe Early Childhood Caries by (1) trying to understand the biopsychosocial factors involved in the disease process and how these factors contribute to overall health and by (2) reducing oral mutans streptococci populations to non-pathogenic levels via conventional surgical and contemporary non-surgical means.
