William Jarvie Research Society

The William Jarvie Research Society (WJRS) is the Columbia chapter of the American Association of Dental Research National Student Research Group (NSRG), a student-run organization whose main purpose is to foster an environment in every dental school whereby students interested in enriching their dental education through research are encouraged to do so.

WJRS organizes a number of activities that support student research and emphasize the role of research in the development and practice of modern dentistry. The Jarvie executive committee and faculty advisors believe that every interested student should have a productive research experience at the College of Dental Medicine, and members gain exposure to a variety of research opportunities at CUMC and beyond.

Membership

  • There are no attendance requirements. Participation in all events is encouraged in order to receive the benefits of membership.
  • Membership Dues: $25/annually
  • All members of the William Jarvie Research Society are eligible for subsidized membership in the American Association of Dental Research (AADR). AADR membership allows students to apply for various AADR sponsored research fellowships, subscribe to the Journal of Dental Research at a reduced fee, and attend conferences at reduced registration fees.

Student-Resident Meet and Greet

Residents who need assistance with their research projects give short presentations of their work and connect with students who could potentially get involved.
